UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM (3+1)

UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON-CLEAR LAKE

 Overview  

The Undergraduate Program 3+1 is a transfer program jointly conducted by VNU-HCM and University of Houston-Clear Lake (Texas, USA). Enrolled in the Undergraduate Program 3+1, students will study the first three years in Vietnam and complete their Bachelor's program for the last year at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (Texas, USA). The academic curriculum, teaching materials, teaching methods, and student assessments are adopted from the University of Houston-Clear Lake (Texas, USA). Moreover, the medium of instruction is English, and the faculty meets international standards. Upon successfully completing the program, students are granted the Bachelor's degree by the University of Houston-Clear Lake (Texas, USA).

With a US-based curriculum and an English speaking campus, the Undergraduate Program 3+1 creates the chance for students to be exposed to an international education at reasonable cost. Up till now, CIE has trained more than 1.045 students, among which over 639 students already transferred to universities in the USA and other countries. Out of the number, 221 were granted scholarships by the host universities like University of Houston at Clear Lake, University of Houston, Texas University at Arlington, Texas Christian University, Marshall University, State University of New York at Plattsburgh, Oklahoma State University, La Trobe University and Oxford University, etc. with a total amount of USD 2,731,056.

Admission Requirements

  • High school graduation with GPA >= 6.5
  • TOEFL score >= 500 (iBT >= 61) or IELTS >= 5.5

    Transfer Procedures 

    To provide necessary information and required documents relating to transfer procedures, CIE Academic Affairs Section holds sequent meetings for students in January, April and August yearly. CIE will support students in sending applications for admission to those universities who are partners of VNU-HCM without any postal charges if students meet the requirements.

    Transfer eligibility

    • Completion of 90 credits with grade C or higher (less than 3 C grades)
    • iBT TOEFL score >= 80 or IELTS >= 6.0

    Transfer Schedule

    • Fall semester: from April to June.
    • Spring semester: from August to October.
    • Summer semester: from February to March.

    Scholarships 

    Scholarships for the first stage at CIE - VNUHCM

    Up to now, CIE has granted 127 AUCP scholarships worth 180.944 USD to its outstanding students.

    AUCP New Student Scholarships are granted to students who have graduated from high school and apply for the American University Cooperation Program (AUCP) at CIE. AUCP New Student Scholarships help students save 50% - 100% of tuition for the first year at CIE.

    Application Eligibility

    • High school graduation.
    • High school GPA >= 8.0
    • iBT TOEFL score >= 61 or IELTS >= 5.5 
    • Recommendation letters from high school officials or teachers.

    AUCP Academic Scholarships are granted to students who have excellent academic performance for the first  year (at least 30 credits) at CIE. The scholarships help students save 50% - 100% of tuition for the second year at CIE and enrich students with opportunities to get scholarships for the second stage at U.S universities such as University of Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake, Texas University at Arlington, Texas Christian University, Marshall University, Oklahoma State University,Oklahoma City University, Missouri St. Louis, Oregon University,..

    Requirements for AUCP Academic Scholarship:

    • Undergraduate students need to earn at least 30 credits with extremely high GPA for the first year.

    For second stage at American universities

    For over 8 years, among 639 students already transferred to American universities, there are 221 students won scholarships with total amount of 2,731,056 USD (more than 45 billions VND).

    Each university in the United States offers various kinds of scholarship yearly. To get them, students should know well about their requirements. Howerver, the most important elements to scholarship applicants are academic performance, academic awards and extracurricular activities.

    The most popular kinds of scholarships to CIE students, up to now, are the “ New Student Scholarship” from University of Houston-Clear Lake, Texas, USA (equivalent: 75% of tuition); the “Transfer Nonresident Achievement Scholarship” from Oklahoma State University, USA (equivalent: 5,000 USD/year); and the “Internship” from Marshall University, West Virginia, USA (equivalent: 13,000 USD/year), Texas Christian University, Texas, USA (equivalent: 27,000 USD/year for both Scholarship and Financial Aid) ...
